PASSION
Alfa 164: stories of men and engines
28, January 2020
The appointments at the Museum are back with a really unmissable Sunday! 1 Museum, 2 speakers with a real Alfista heart and 3 guests of honour authors of unforgettable pages of the biscione encyclopedia. The engine of everything? The Alfa 164, of course.

The new year could only start off great with a choral event dedicated to Alfista's great passion.

We are always impressed by how much participation and enthusiasm are unleashed when we launch a new topic to explore in depth: there are those who followed its genesis, those who in those years tested the bolidos, those who meticulously took care not to lose any precious trace of this story. And then there are those who have lived the Alfa Romeo myth since childhood and feel invested with the responsibility of passing this story on to future generations. All elements that will make the appointment of SUNDAY 2 FEBRUARY extraordinary.

And at this point we reveal the names of the protagonists!

Antonino D'anna and Andrea Vecchi will lead the alfista afternoon, welcoming three exceptional guests: Enrico Fumia, Giorgio Langella and the lady in red from Alfa Romeo Elvira Ruocco!

Antonino D'Anna: Director and Founder of "Il Garage dell'Alfista", Vatican journalist for ItaliaOggi. For him, the 2000s are yet to come, while waiting undaunted, he continues undauntedly to write his Tissue with the Olivetti Lettera 35, takes photographs with a Polaroid and does not leave the door of the house, without having chosen the perfect tie.

Andrea Vecchi: president of the Alfa Club Milano, has refounded the lunar calendar by calibrating it to the production phases of Portello. His passion for Alfa Romeo began at an early age and this led him to live alfista history, exploring every aspect of production and history, discovering and handing down endless alfisti anecdotes. A true encyclopaedia of the Quadrifoglio.

Enrico Fumia became, from a very young age, a promise of Italian design, winning in the Junior category the "Grifo d'Oro", prize of the competition organized by Bertone. As soon as he graduated, he won Pinin Farina with his thesis in aeronautical engineering and was hired. In 1982 he designed his first production car, the Alfa Romeo 164, which will be the protagonist of our Sunday alfista.

Elvira Ruocco Historical memory of Alfa Romeo thanks to its over twenty years of experience at the Alfa Romeo Historical Documentation Centre. Her knowledge includes technical data, documents and many stories of life lived with the Alfa Romeo heart always at its best. He has collaborated with the Fratelli Cozzi Museum with the column "Elvira Racconta".

Giorgio Langella, has been called the "Alpha Tester who beat the Yankees" for testing the 164 on the legendary American roads. He has driven on the most inaccessible roads and in the most extreme conditions, who more than him can collect original Alfa anecdotes?

The event will see the extraordinary participation of Pasquale Oliveri, so says Andrea Vecchi:

"One of the youngest engineers to become a manager was director of Arese painting, over the years he was director of Pomigliano d'Arco and director of the Arese plant until its closure. He became Director of Quality until he became Vice President of the Alfa Romeo brand. In 2002 he reorganised the historical sector by setting up the Alfa Romeo Historic Automobilismo Storico, a body that managed the Documentation Centre, the Historical Museum and the sporting activity. Under his management we remember some of the most beautiful victories at the historic commemoration of the Mille Miglia in 2005, 2007 and 2008".
