Alfa 164: a separate class

13 September, 2017

Thirty years are important, as the Fratelli Cozzi Museum, which is twice thirty years old, knows it well. And meeting with friends after a period of vacation is just as important, so why not do it with a good reason for conversation like the anniversary of the Alfa 164?

On Sunday 10th September the Fratelli Cozzi Museum reopened its doors after the summer break with an appointment sold out in a few days. It was to be expected, on the other hand, with a parterre of guests such as Giuseppe Casiraghi, Sebastiano Caprì and Giorgio Langella, historic Alfa Romeo test drivers, introduced by Andrea Vecchi, president of Alfa Club Milano and accompanied by Elvira Ruocco who did not miss her in-depth study dedicated to the celebrated Alfa 164.

A very welcome surprise guest Franco Colombo, new Councillor for Culture and Educational Policies of the City of Legnano, who told the microphones of SempioneNews: "We are lucky to have this beautiful pole, with an extraordinary emotional impact. Even those who are not car lovers will surely find something beautiful and interesting in this Museum. I hope to reuciscre to build a meeting point in order to include the Fratelli Cozzi Museum in what are the historical points of interest of the city".

Alfa 164: a separate class, so it was presented to the public in 1987, the year production began. There were 250,000 examples produced in the Arese plant, starting from the FIAT platform, the same one that will be used for saloons like the Lancia Thema and the Saab 9000.

We owe his line to the pen of Enrico Fumia, who, when interviewed by Ruoteclassiche, said he was satisfied with the quality achieved by Alfa Romeo with the 164, which carried with it the onerous task of demonstrating that Alfa Romeo's legacy of elegance and quality was well guarded.

The rumors speak of a future sedan destined to take over the 164 segment, the name "Milano" is hypothesized, but for now nothing is official.

During the holidays we met some students from schools in the area and asked ourselves: what do the new generations of Alfa 164 know? How would they tell it? We asked Federica, a student atITET Maggiolini in Parabiago, to create a video in collaboration with ICMA colleagues.
