The history of Italian enterprise in "50+!" objects
11 July, 2017

Corporate icons stop at the Piaggio Museum. From July 14th to October 22nd the museum will host the exhibition “50+! The great game of industry".
The exhibition "50+! Il grande gioco dell'industria" exhibition continues its itinerant journey and the seventh Italian leg of the tour will be inaugurated on Thursday 13 July at the Piaggio Museum in Pontedera (PI). For the occasion, the exhibition, curated by Francesca Molteni, will be renewed and enriched with new and surprising stories. This formidable tale, which traces the connections between art, design and society within Italian business culture, will be hosted at the Piaggio Museum until 22 October 2017. The exhibition is divided into 50+ objects that have made the history of Italian design, chosen from the collections of the archives and museums associated with Museimpresa with the collaboration of their curators. The objects are large, small, obvious or hidden, fixed or mobile, powerful, sweet, mysterious and unsuspected, but in all cases they have contributed to changing the customs, history, economy and lifestyle of Italian society. This is how the story of many fascinating and ingenious icons that tell the story of "Made in Italy" from the nineteenth century to the present day and that have revolutionized the most diverse product sectors comes to life. This chronological itinerary cannot fail to include the myth that has put wings on the feet of millions of people all over the world: the Vespa. The exhibition will be hosted in the unique context of the Piaggio Museum, which was born from the skilful architectural recovery of more than 3,000 square metres of the former tooling workshop, one of the oldest and most fascinating parts of the Pontedera industrial complex where the company set up its production from the early 1920s. As if in a time machine, the iconographic exhibition covers more than two centuries of the history of Italian design through objects, inventions, intuitions, "daring" born from the ingenuity of the captains of industry and poets of the factories, the visionaries of the workshops and the extraordinary ability of our workers. For this seventh edition, there are 8 new and surprising stories to discover: the bottle of Liquore Strega, the metal punch of the Paper Museum, the Poste Italiane mailbox, the ETR 250 Arlecchino train of Ferrovie dello Stato, the Minerva of De Chirico of Fintecna, the Alfa Romeo Giulia TI Super of Fratelli Cozzi, the Fiocchi Team of Fiocchi Munizioni and the Cartastorie of the Fondazione Banco di Napoli.
