Audience peaks at the Museum

20 February, 2016

A weekend dedicated to the legendary Autodelta and the presentation of two books not to be missed in the alfista bookstore ... and not only

Saturday morning is a must for the public alfista: the award ceremony Champions Alfa Romeo 2018 organized by the Scuderia del Portello. A morning full of emotions, thanks to the presence of many guests able to warm the hearts of Alfisti, especially Arturio Merzario and the governor Roberto Maroni, willing to run ... at the Milan-Dubai.

Roberto Maroni is applying... to Milano-Dubai 🙂

The day continued at the Fratelli Cozzi Museum where Davide Cironi said at the Drive Experience: "He interviews legends of world motor racing with the aim of awakening in the younger ones the desire to achieve something prestigious, in the older ones the memory of times that should come back" . And he certainly did not betray expectations by presenting a motor racing legend like Gian Luigi Picchi and his book "My years in Autodelta" published by Drive Experience.

"It was a strange sensation to drive a GTA Junior looking down the track from the top of the seat and not seeing where the front wheels were, sensing how many inches away from the apex."

Hearing the story of Picchi, "led" by Davide Cironi was a plunge into automotive heroism. Epic stories that cross the sporting finish line, becoming universal tales for each and every one of us. The challenges, the defeats, the accidents, the victories, the friends, the antagonists are told by Picchi with the wisdom and calm that you don't expect from those who have spent a lifetime racing. But maybe the trick is right there: when everything goes fast the pilot's mind dilates, every gesture has a weight and you learn the promptness of thought and the cunning of action.

A particularly exciting moment was experienced when Gian Luigi Picchi held in his hands the trophy created by Luigi Broggini in 1971 and with which Picchi was awarded: "For the man who with his wheel is always the wing of tomorrow". An extraordinary object that, as Picchi himself pointed out, represents the strength and balance between man and speed, a subtle and solid control that projects into the future.

A limited edition copy of the trophy is kept in the Cozzi.Lab together with the collection that Alfa Romeo created to reward the drivers and which boasts the names of the most prestigious artists of the 20th century. Which ones? Discover it at the Museum...

Thanks to all the guests who have joined us from most of Italy and abroad. Thanks to Andrea Cajani who joined us to live with us the relay race of an epic day. Thanks to Davide Cironi and all the Drive Experience staff, because they are crazy... and we love them so much. And a special thanks to Gian Luigi Picchi who honoured us with his presence.
