Coffee break at the Museum

20 April, 2020

How about a coffee break together? 15 minutes with MuseoCity and Mumac to share many stories... and drink a good coffee.

Dear friends, we are pleased to share the project of MuseoCity "Coffee Breakwhich aims to give a voice to all those museums in the metropolitan city of Milan that are not currently open to the public, but which have much to tell. The project has been realised thanks to the contribution of MUMAC Museo della macchina per il caffè di Gruppo Cimbali, who like us are also part of Museimpresa.

Pausa Caffè MuseoCity offers a story full of curiosities that winds through the city: an appointment that could become a ritual, like coffee, audio tracks - available on Spotify, Spreaker and Storytel - that you can listen to again and again, even off-line, at any time of the day. It is our way of saying that #LaCulturaNiFerma and #LaCulturaCura.

Among the speakers who conducted the interviews you will find, along with Jacopo Balestrini and Davide Sanavio, the voice of Laura Defendi, whom many of you will have met during the guided tours and events. Below we publish the podcast dedicated to our Museum, but we recommend that you listen to all the interventions.

DO YOU KNOW MUSEOCITY?

MuseoCity is a non-profit association that works to promote and enhance the great museum heritage of the city of Milan and its hinterland. Its mission is to encourage the participation of an ever wider public in the artistic and cultural life of the city, also by offering museums opportunities to make them more comfortable and welcoming. Since 2017 the Association, in close collaboration with the Municipality of Milan, Department of Culture, has been organising a three-day format of events entitled Milano MuseoCity on the first weekend in March, involving over 89 museums and attended by over 70,000 people.

Since 2019, thanks also to the contribution of Fondazione Cariplo, the Association has been able to develop various activities throughout the year aimed at introducing the beauty of the museums to numerous visitors, with particular attention to children.

MUMAC - Gruppo Cimbali Coffee Machine Museum

MUMAC - Gruppo Cimbali's Coffee Machine Museum, thanks to the Cimbali and Maltoni collections, is the largest permanent exhibition dedicated to the history, world and culture of professional espresso coffee machines. With more than 100 exhibits inside Gruppo Cimbali's headquarters in Binasco (Milan), it tells the story of more than 100 years of history and evolution of an entire sector of Made in Italy.

In addition to the exhibition area, MUMAC has another 200 items available for rotation within the museum or on loan worldwide, and a book collection comprising 1,300 thematic volumes and around 25,000 documents including photos, patents, letters, catalogues and all the material needed to reconstruct the history of the espresso coffee machine.

MUMAC also organises cultural and educational initiatives dedicated to schools, universities and families and, through MUMAC Academy, courses aimed at industry professionals and coffee lovers.
