Here we go!
26 July, 2020

Si Parte! The weekly column devised in collaboration with Mumac and Museo Fisogni to recount the travels of Italians from the 1950s to the present day.

The idea was simple, we asked ourselves 'what do you need to get going? A car, a full tank of petrol ... and definitely a lot of coffee. This is how we came up with the idea of involving our friends from the Fisogni Museum and Mumac, to tell the story of Italians' travels from the 1950s to the present day. For seven Fridays, three photos will be published on our social pages, telling the story of each decade with iconic pieces.

The association was sponsored by the Circuito Lombardo dei Musei del Design (to which all three museums belong), set up "to give value to the heritage of Lombardy's design archives and museums; collections of great interest and international stature, housed in museum spaces of exceptional care and charm".

HERE ARE OUR TRAVELLING COMPANIONS

The Fisogni Museum of Tradate service station, founded in 1966 by Guido Fisogni and on display since 2015 at Villa Castiglioni-Fisogni, houses the largest collection of antique petrol pumps - from 1892 to 2001 - and objects related to the world of oil, certified by the Guinness World Record. In addition to the approximately 5,000 exhibits, the Museum also houses thousands of unique documents, plans, postcards and photographs relating to the oil companies. The Museum is a venue for corporate and private gatherings and events, and is part, like the Cozzi Museum, of the Circuito Lombardo Musei Design.

"Courage leave everything behind and go, leave to start again there is nothing truer than a mirage and however far there is still to go, you will love the ending" Cesare Cremonini
MUMAC, the Gruppo Cimbali Coffee Machine Museum, was founded in 2012 to promote knowledge, culture and the pleasure of coffee among professionals and enthusiasts. Located in the company's headquarters in Binasco, the museum, thanks to its exhibition, the MUMAC Library and the historical archive, is a space entirely dedicated to the world of coffee and the history of an entire sector of Made in Italy. With its 300 pieces from the Cimbali and Maltoni collections, over 100 of which are on display, MUMAC is the largest contemporary museum of professional coffee machines in the world, a place that contains unique examples in terms of technological development and design. The collection tells the story of coffee machines from the end of the 19th century to the present day, highlighting the stylistic evolution and technological innovations linked to one of the world's best-loved beverages, while also offering visitors an insight into the changing habits and places of consumption. All enriched by the driving force behind the dissemination of coffee culture, the MUMAC Academy, where knowledge, expertise and research come together to create training programmes of the highest level for professionals and enthusiasts.
