PASSION

Pretty, fast and fast

28 May, 2017

Despite the uncertain weather, Alfa Romeo cars have seen the sun shine on their cars that they have conquered for elegance and speed.

There were no rivals to the 1000 Miles, where Alfa Romeo cars took first, second and third place, a success that was also repeated at Villa D'Este for the Concorso di Eleganza.

The protagonist of a very unpleasant episode was also an Alfa 6C 2500 sport that was literally sold out. On the night between May 12 and 13, 1942's beautiful Alfa was stolen while parked outside the hotel Noce. It was a car registered to participate in the 2018 Mille Miglia. It would have started with the number 115 and hopefully a 007 can find it as soon as possible.

THOUSAND MILES

The 2018 Mille Miglia 2018 started in the sign ofAlfa Romeo celebrating 90 years since the first victory of the house in this race, in 1928 with Giuseppe Campari and the mechanic Giulio Ramponi on a 6C 1500 Super Sport and this must have been a good omen given the extraordinary results.

The 2018 edition was won by the Argentine crew of Juan Tonconogy and Barbara Ruffini. The two participated aboard an Alfa 6C 1500 GS "Fixed Head" from 1933 and had already won in the past with the Red Arrow in 2013 and 2015. In second place were Giovanni Moceri and Daniele Bonetti in a 1928 6C 1500 SS. Third place for the winners of the last two editions, Andrea Vesco and Andrea Guerini, in a 6C 1750 Zagato of 1929.

VILLA D'ESTE ELEGANCE CONTEST

The queen of this edition was the fabulous Alfa Romeo 33/2 Stradale, winner of the Coppa d'Oro which also won the BMW Group Italia Trophy. "Very rare coupé from 1968 built in 18 examples derived from the legendary Tipo 33 which dominated prototype sports racing in the last years of the golden age. The engine was closely derived from the racing car, the V8 2.0 designed by Giuseppe Busso, which, on the Stradale, delivered 230 horsepower (40 less than the racing version) for a total weight of only 700 kg. The wonderful design is by Franco Scaglione", reads the AutoBlog article.

The other winners also talk about the Museum's valuables, such as the concept of the Lancia Stratos, the prototype that Bertone signed in 1970, a signature that he also created extraordinary models for the house of the snake. Come and discover which are kept in our Museum.
