THERE IS NO ALFA IN THE PHOTO: DO YOU KNOW WHY?

August 31, 2022

AN EXHIBITION DEDICATED TO A HISTORIC COMPANY AND MADE POSSIBLE THANKS TO THE PASSION AND SUPPORT OF MANY TERRITORIAL REALTIES.

Well, yes: in the preview photograph in this news item, not only is there no Alfa Romeo, but there is also no car. And do you know why?

Because from September 24 to October 3, the Museum's Red Room will host an exhibition dedicated to Legnano Bicycles. An opportunity to celebrate-just as we did exactly a year ago with Velca-once again the know-how of the Legnano area, as well as to give space to Made in Italy (and Made in Legnano, of course) design and creativity.

The exhibition was created at the behest of theFriends of Fratelli Cozzi Museum association and the invaluable journalist Paolo Girotti, but also thanks to the support and work of numerous entities in the area. We speak of Ticino Olona Community Foundation, the Ugo Colombo Hombre Vertical association, U.S. Legnanese 1913 and the City of Legnano: to all these associations goes from now our biggest and most heartfelt thanks!

AN EXHIBITION DEDICATED TO BICYCLES LEGNANO

To give space to the popular dimension of Legnano's bicycle history, to place it side by side with the more competitive and competitive dimension with high-end products and victories in the sports field, and to show the historical headquarters of a company that has helped carry the city's name far beyond territorial boundaries.

These are the goals of a collective work that will bring testimonies and memorabilia to the Museum, including historic bikes from the collections of partner Museums: the Ghisallo Museum, the Binda Museum and the Nicolis Museum.

So, load up a bike on your Alfa Romeo, too, and find a special place to savor the thrill of using these pedals, too. After all, those on the Legnano are legendary, almost as legendary as those on our Alfas!

What do you do: get in the saddle with us?

Keep following us, soon we will give you all the information to participate.

DO YOU KNOW FONDAZIONE COMUNITARIA TICINO OLONA?

The Fondazione Comunitaria del Ticino Olona (also known as Fondazione Ticino Olona or FCTO) started its activity in 2006 covering the western area of the province of Milan and in particular the territories of Legnanese, Castanese, Magentino and Abbiatense.

The aim of the Foundation is to aggregate resources from multiple donations that allow it to operate in a grant-making mode, i.e. by granting contributions for the implementation of significant projects for the development of the territory and, at the same time, providing services to facilitate the growth of the Third Sector.

FCTO's resources mainly support non-profit organisations operating at local level that are able to develop the emerging needs of different territorial areas in the social, cultural and environmental fields.

ARE YOU FAMILIAR WITH THE UGO COLOMBO HOMBRE VERTICAL ASSOCIATION?

The association was founded in 2021, taking its cue from the publication of the book "A Champion a la Ugo Colombo." The nickname "Hombre Vertical" was coined in "La Repubblica" by master Gianni Mura to honor his friend Ugo only days after his death.

The association was founded with civic, solidarity and socially useful purposes and intends to promote cycling as a means of healthy, sustainable, safe and potential-rich mobility; to direct young people toward physical and sporting activity as a means of health, socialization and well-being, based on principles of fairness and team spirit, hoping to contribute to the birth of a true cultural sports movement that can spread the values of fair and clean sport and promote the human and sporting figure of Ugo Colombo and enhance his sporting achievements.

DO YOU KNOW U.S. LEGNANESE 1913?

The Unione Sportiva Legnanese 1913 represents the oldest sports association in the city of Legnano; over the years, it has distinguished itself nationally to such an extent that in 1968 it was awarded the Stella d'Oro al merito Sportivo (Gold Star for Sporting Merit) and, in 2015, Italy's highest sporting honor, the "Collare d'Oro del CONI" (CONI Golden Collar).

The first president, Paolo Panelli back in 1913 launched an ambitious program right from the start, focusing forces on cycling and running. A legacy that was not only respected, but saw a major revival in 2022 with the transformation of U.S. Legnanese 1913 into a multi-sport club and the founding of the runners' team.

The "Sportiva" has been organizing the Coppa Bernocchi since 1919, a race that would immediately become a cycling classic that would see the names of real sports legends such as Bartali and Coppi, Moser, Saronni as well as many international champions counted in its roll of honor.

In 2020, La Coppa Bernocchi was promoted to the UCI Europe Tour Class 1.1 category and trial of the Cycling Cup, becoming, in effect, a world-class race.

The Bernocchi Cup is now in its 103rd edition this year; in 2022 the race will be held on Monday, October 3.

In addition to the Bernocchi Cup, U.S. Legnanese organizes two historic races, which also reached important milestones in 2022: the 48th GP Pino Cozzi, memorial Barlocco, and the 102nd Targa D'Oro city of Legnano, memorial Mauro Mezzanzanica. Two races dedicated for years to the youth sector, with rookies and students coming from all over Lombardy.

In 2022 it reached the number of 272 associates.
