women and motors? joys and that's it! the project

April 11, 2023

16 women for 16 photographic portraits, a valuable reflection and testimony every day. Not only on November 25.

"Women drivers? Constant danger!"

"Women and motors? Joys and sorrows!"

We think it is time to say enough about these clichés.

Violence against women and gender stereotyping are deeply rooted problems in our society. Often the pairing of women and cars is disparaging and disrespectful and thus perpetuates a discriminatory culture, distorting reality.

The project "Women and Motors? Just Joys" was created with the aim of countering such discrimination, promoting women's empowerment and challenging stereotypes through an innovative and purposeful approach.

THE PROJECT.

A video/photographic exhibition immortalizes 16 women with beautiful cars from the Fratelli Cozzi Museum: 16 women who stand out for their professionalism and expertise. Businesswomen, managers, professionals, volunteers, politicians, journalists, sportswomen, teachers.

The project was carried out in collaboration with the CIF Italian Women's Center of Legnano and thanks to the valuable support of the Ticino Olona Community Foundation.

The idea stems from the intent to present women with different eyes, valuing their talent, professionalism and expertise in different fields, including automotive.

The women involved in the project are part of the Woman In Power Movement, which was founded in 2008 to enhance what women are and do every day. They all share a common desire to change the perception of women in the world of motors and in society in general.

"EDITION #1

The first edition of the project featured Bianca Carretto, a historic automotive journalist in Corriere della Sera, as its patroness. The other protagonists are women from different fields, united by excellence and the desire to challenge gender stereotypes.
