museocity on tour 2022: guided tour and presentation of ivan scelsa's new book

Oct. 19, 2022

Like last year, in this 2022 the Museum is participating with great enthusiasm in inTOUR, the second edition of the event promoted by MuseoCity and which this year falls from October 21 to 23, 2022: three days of extraordinary openings - in some cases even of venues usually closed to the public - and activities designed especially for the occasion, to discover Lombardy's rich cultural heritage.

Taking part, in addition to our museum, are about 50 design-related institutions, ateliers, artists' archives and business museums spread across capitals and localities in Lombardy, such as Milan, Bergamo, Brescia, Como, Pavia and Varese, which are participating with a rich program of initiatives conceived by the MuseoCity association in collaboration with Circuito Lombardo Musei Design and Museimpresa.

Our museum, in particular, is part of the suggested route "Design Wanted "-between Milan, Arese, Legnano, Parabiago, Giussano, Noviglio, Pavia, Sarnico, and Lake Como: the big names of Italian design join the world of design for everyday objects, such as computers, typewriters, electric batteries, automobiles, and coffee machines.

To celebrate the opening of the Museum we have organized an event in which you can also participate: the presentation of Ivan Scelsa's book "Ugo Gobbato - summary injustice. From Fiat to Alfa Romeo, the story of a working-class executive."

The appointment is for Sunday, October 23 at 3 p.m.!

"Gobbato is an Italian, attached to his country and the company he leads. An enlightened engineer with a new vision of the factory world, he gives impetus to the industrialization of the sector by working first for Fiat, then at Alfa Romeo."

"Writing about men like Ugo Gobbato is by no means a simple matter. Beyond historical research, in analyzing his figure and the vicissitudes that characterized his tragic demise, conflicting feelings and considerations have been intertwined with extreme difficulty, leaving personal considerations on the sidelines. But so be it, and out of moral duty to his figure, this work had to be done. What struck me as an author, I hope may be the same feeling that the reader will feel, who will probably become attached to this figure of the first half of the twentieth century from the beginning. Gobbato is an Italian, attached to his country and the company he runs. An enlightened engineer with a new vision of the factory world (before the automobile), he gives impetus to the industrialization of the sector by working first for Fiat, then at Alfa Romeo."
