It is not possible to talk about competitions or to tell the story of Alfa Romeo without evoking the prestigious figure of the one who remains the best driver of all time: Tazio Nuvolari.
The crowd of onlookers soon began to call him "Nivola" or "Nuvola" because when he was behind the wheel his car stopped being a mechanical vehicle and became as docile as a colt.
He drove gesticulating, whistling, singing and beating the side of the car like a jockey cheering the horse.

At the 1932 Targa Florio, Nuvolari was accompanied by the young mechanic Mambelli called "il morino" who did the whole race crouching under the bonnet of the car.
Before the start Nuvolari had advised him to jump under the dashboard every time he shouted for the approach of a dangerous curve.
At the end of the race, Mambelli declared that he had not seen anything as he had remained in that position for the whole race because Tazio had never stopped shouting.
In the photo, the arrival of Nuvolari who won on Alfa Romeo 8C 2600 Monza, satisfying Gabriele D'Annunzio who had told him:
"I'm waiting for a telegram on which there are only these words:
"I have won. Tazio"
